Laure-Lye Pillonel is a senior associate and member in the firm’s Real Estate and Corporate & M&A teams in Geneva.
She joined MLL Legal in 2015 as a trainee, during which she spent four months in the firm’s Brussels office. She was admitted to the bar in February 2017 and then completed a three-month legal internship at a reputable law firm in London. She then returned to the firm in July 2017 as an associate.
Laure-Lye Pillonel is currently completing a Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Real Estate Expertise at the EPFL, the University of Fribourg and the Fribourg School of Engineering and Architecture, of which she has already completed two of the three modules. She also holds a Certificate of Specialization in Law from the University of Geneva (ECAV). Previously, she obtained a Master’s degree in law with magna cum laude from the University of Zurich and a Bachelor’s degree in bilingual law (French/German) from the University of Fribourg.
She is fluent in French, German and English.

Draft Amendment to the Federal Law on Second Homes (Lex Weber)
On 3 November 2022, the Environment, Spatial planning, and Energy Committees of the National Council (ESPEC/NC) presented a preliminary draft amendment to the Federal Act on Second Homes of March 20, 2015 (SHA, RS 702) to relax the conditions for the expansion, conversion or reconstruction of buildings erected under the old law, i.e., before 11 March 2012, in municipalities with a rate of second homes that exceeds 20 percent.1
Only article 11 of the SHA is affected by this draft, without affecting other articles of the law or the ordinance.
The consultation runs until 17 February 2023.
If adopted, this revision of the SHA is good news for owners of buildings erected under the old law, in municipalities with more than 20% second homes, as they will have more freedom to modify their properties.
