Samuel Mätzler

Samuel Mätzler is an associate in the ICT & Digital practice group. His work mainly involves advising and representing clients on issues relating to information technology and data protection law. He has particular expertise in health law and human research law.

Before joining MLL, he worked at the Center for Information Technology, Society, and Law (ITSL) at the University of Zurich as part of a research project on the data protection framework applicable to research. Prior to that, he was admitted to the bar and completed internships at a commercial law firm and a cantonal data protection supervisory authority.

Samuel Mätzler studied at the University of Basel and obtained a doctorate from the University of Zurich (Dr. iur. des.). During his studies, he spent an exchange semester at the University of Paris II Panthéon-Assas. He also spent several months conducting research at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition in Munich and at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. He works in German and English and has knowledge of French.
