Dr. Walter Häberling, LL.M.

Walter Häberling is a member of our dispute resolution team and real estate industry group. He has worked for the firm for more than 25 years, 19 of them as a partner. Today, in his current capacity as Of Counsel, he provides the firm with his knowledge and experience in commercial and real estate law, primarily in litigious disputes.

Before joining MLL Legal, he worked for seven years with two different district courts in the Canton of Zurich, two of which as a district and rental court judge. Thus, he knows from his own experience what counts in judges’ minds.

He has wide-ranging experience in real estate matters with a special focus on commercial lease law. The experience and skills acquired as head and chairman of the conciliation authority in rental matters for four years are still of great advantage in mandates in the field of rental law.

He has been listed in the Who’s Who of Construction & Real Estate Laywers since 2015, where he has been characterized as a “valuable asset” to clients thanks to his “ability to get to the heart of the issue” and where sources are quoted describing him as “tough and tactically clever” and assessing him as an “absolute specialist with wide-ranging experience in real estate and rental matters” (WWL 2022). The Legal 500 EMEA, 2015, Dispute Resolution, Litigation, wrote that Walter Häberling has “a remarkable ability to anticipate and mitigate chances and risks” and in The Legal 500 EMEA, 2016, Dispute Resolution, Litigation, he is singled out for his experience as a former judge.
