International Transgender Day of Visibility 2024: Let’s not turn a blind eye.

Last Sunday, 31 March, was International Transgender Day of Visibility to raise awareness about transgender people. We work in the field of law, and very closely tied into this is the notion of justice. Justitia represents the values of fair and equal treatment, and respect is at the core of what we do and how we treat one another. We may not be the same but we are certainly all equal.

When we are faced with picking a favourite colour, who of us has not struggled to pick just the one? Is a bunch of red flowers not equally beautiful as one consisting of apricot, red, coral, lilac and burgundy flowers, like our corporate colours which reflect the diversity of our firm in age, race and (trans-)gender?

We are not blinded by appearance, status or any other superficial criteria but are looking closely at what a person can bring to our team and our clients with regards to integrity, diligence and simply being a delightful and competent person to work with. “Our” Justitia has therefore lost her blindfold as a symbol of impartiality and use of our minds and all our senses to do justice.
