Traineeship Programs

Did you obtain your law degree with above-average grades? Are you looking for an exciting traineeship program in one of Switzerland’s leading business law firms? As an innovative, fast-growing firm, we are always on the lookout for talented and motivated people seeking to gain their first practical experience in the lead-up to the bar exam.

What we offer

During your 12 (Zurich, Zug) or 18 (Geneva) months in our firm, we not only offer you the best possible preparation for the bar exam, but also a broad insight into the multifaceted and challenging daily life of our associates.

As a trainee, you won’t be assigned to a specific team. Instead, you will work with a large number of lawyers from various legal areas on a case-by-case basis, allowing you to deepen your legal knowledge in a broad and comprehensive way. This system also gives you the unique opportunity to gain practical insight into several areas of the law and find out at an early stage which one you’re best suited for and most interested in. At the same time, you can benefit from our associates’ many years of practical experience and become familiar with different working styles. As part of our MLL Legal team, you will not only be entrusted with back office tasks but will be involved in a variety of exciting and complex cases that give you the opportunity to work directly with clients. Trainees are actively involved in all our projects, both big and small. If you share your personal interests with us, we will take them into account when we assign work to you. Our goal is to support and promote your development by teaching you the essential skills that every junior associate needs to succeed as a lawyer.

Alongside your on-the-job training, we regularly hold special bar exam meetings tailored to your needs in order to give you the best possible preparation for the exam. Under the guidance of experienced associates, you will work through and discuss previous exam cases. Our associates will take the time to answer all of your questions in detail. As part of regular internal events and training, you will be kept up to date on current legislative changes and case law and will discuss these with our team. To further deepen your legal knowledge, you will have the opportunity to attend external seminars and conferences with our associates.

On your first day, you will be assigned a mentor, who will accompany you throughout your year as a junior associate and assist you in both work-related and personal matters.

What we are looking for

Do you want to start your career in an environment that meets your high expectations? Each year, we offer junior associate positions to a dozen talented and highly motivated university graduates. We are looking for highly dedicated, proactive individuals with good teamwork skills and a strong sense of responsibility who are capable of showing initiative. We welcome applications from candidates who are attracted by our modern, international and dynamic working environment and who have a positive attitude towards tackling complex legal issues. Additional language skills (especially excellent English) and experience abroad are an advantage.
